The present Annual Book 2013 of Mass Communications Department at NBU is the 17[th] edition in succession for that academic book and its 8[th] modern electronic edition.
The 2013 edition of our Annual Book honors Marshall McLuhan with a refined choice of his quotes at the very beginning of the Book itself.
The first section of the Annual Book 2013 includes articles by lecturers of Mass Communications Department at NBU.
In “Journalistic Self Amputation McLuhan Style" Prof. Vladimir Mihaylov, D. Sc., focuses the attention on the lack of responsibility toward the presented information and manifested positions by journalists in the new network society. In "Twilight silhouette of Hezbollah: a touch to the media portrait of the organization" Assoc. Prof. Mira Mayer, PhD and Prof. Tolya Stoitsova, D.Sc., are looking to outline the Lebanese Shiite organization and her portrait in the Bulgarian media after the Sarafovo attack. Publications in three Bulgarian newspaper - "Trud", "Dnevnik" and "Capital" were analyzed for a period of one month before marking the anniversary of the terrorist act.
"Big data- the new challenges" by Prof. Rusi Marinov, PhD analyzes new problem areas and opportunities for generating, storing and interpreting huge data flow circulating in both the Ithernet and in local area networks .
"The “Development” Stage in the Production of Television Programs" by Prof. Mihail Meltev, PhD examines the common stages for each audiovisual production (development, preproduction, production and postproduction). The vast volume of the produced program often requires parallel proceedings and simultaneous activities, usually typical for different periods.
"Museum - cultural spaces?" by Assoc. Prof. Petya Alexandrova, Ph.D shows an increased interest in museums from tourists and visitors. Sporadic care and efforts are made by institutions and individuals, but there is overall lack of coherent and consistent development of strategic plans for restoration, maintenance and modernization in the countryside.
In “The inside story of Special events”, Associate Professor, Dessislava
Boshnakova, Ph.D. draws attention to some of the main things that can make an event special - the aim to create positive memories in the minds of its guests. “. “The Regional Programmes of Bulgarian National Television and the Process of Digitisation” by Assoc. Prof. Raina Nikolova, PhD follows the historical evolution of the regional programs of Bulgarian National Television: while the contemporary world utilizes the maximum of the new technology development, the public broadcaster in Bulgaria has to position the regional topics in the national programs by constrain (BNT2).
In "Propaganda and memory" Assoc. Prof. Rossen K. Stoyanov, PhD is talking about convincing communication not as an end in itself or temporary, impermanent phenomenon but how it goes hand in hand with state management, communication between governors and governed, including on interstate level. In “ Charity in print media (1-31 December 2012). Some issues in communicating charity and its presentation in Bulgarian print media. ” assist. Prof. Evelina Christova, PhD presents her research on the print publications on the charity topic for the period 1-31 December 2012. She focuses her attention on the main topics, the usage of the terms and its actuality. Special attention is paid to the headlines of the materials. In "The Channel "Me" and the personalized programming" Dr. Stoyko Petkov presents some characteristics of the process of exiting the passive viewing of linear flow of television programs and the early use of interactivity in television. В “Newspaper Enterprises of the Media Magnate Atanas Damyanov” Todor Panayotov, PhD explores the beginning, the rise and the end of the leading newspaper companies associated with Atanas Damianov - biggest media mogul in the country at the time (the daily newspaper "Dnevnik" (1902-1944), "Morning" (1911-1944) and "Zarya" (1914-1944), the weekly newspaper "Sunday morning" (1922 - 1932) and the magazine "Illustrated week" (1923-1936). Boril Metchkov in "Theoretical and methodological framework for the study of the role of screen art in public space relations - citizens" offers a possible framework for structuring, maintaining and rethinking the relationship between rulers and ruled in the context of modern ideas of good governance. "Communication protocols. Interim result: 1-0 for the unprofessional." by Elena Dragostinova concentrates on chain: artifacts (particularly in music), - reaction of professional art criticism - resonances within the blogs and forums. In "Interactive TV - history and technical capabilities" Kyril Gotzev is seeking how passive communication becomes active and how to develop interactive television – from experiment to dominance.
The second part presents articles by PhD students . In "Analysis of branding strategies. Good Practices" Boryana Gosheva focus on tourism as a key element of the image of a country data report in September 2012. "Communicating in times of hyper-sociality" Dessislava Dankova leads to the obligatory presence of companies in social media because today it is not a luxury but a necessity. The success of this type of communication will occur when companies realize that interaction is at the center of human behavior in social media. The "Organizational structure of commercial radio stations in Bulgaria" Kalin Kaltchev offers view of the separate elements of the organizational structure and how it changes to market requirements at local and regional level. In "Journalist and art audio-visual production" Juliana Kancheva characterizes new media communications system built by the symbiosis between conventional and new media, audiences, technologies and services, as well as all processes of interaction occurring between them.
The third section presents the accents of the Spring and of the Autumn Conferences of 2013, managed by the Department of Mass Communications, namely the first topic being “3.0 vs. 2.0 (Professionalism against unprofessionalism)” и “The Future of Journalism and PR”.
The fourth section is allotted to the XV Summer School of Public Relations, which during the year under review, was dedicated to the subject “Choices in PR and PR in time of Elections”.
The fifth section presents the newly published books by our lecturers: Vladimir Mihaylov „At the Rearview Mirror”, Dessislava Boshnakova “13 stories about W + 2”, Stoyko Petkov, „The Creativity triangle (Producer, Scriptwriter, Director), Todor Panayotov, „Bulgarian Publishers and Journalists“.
